We begin on the land, reading the site, its light and the life it will hold. The idea gets talked through before a single line is drawn.

Zoning and early ideas take shape on paper. Sketching by hand keeps the thinking loose and honest.

Plans resolve into structure. We weigh every metre for how it works and how a body moves through it.

We test material and light in render, stone, timber and water, so you can feel the space long before it is built.

Aritra Guin Architects is a design studio in Bengaluru, working across architecture, interiors, landscape and product. We build in stone, timber and terracotta, and the green that grows between them.

He would rather give a project its own identity than a signature style. Each one starts on a fresh sheet, its design drawn from the people who use it, the place it sits, and whatever its constraints leave to work with.
